About this Blog

r-ouroborosWelcome to The Pagan Beanstalk at http://www.paganmeltingpot.wordpress.com. As you might already guess from the URL mismatching the blog name, this page underwent a name change after its original creation in February 2014. – I feel that the word “Meltingpot” gave the wrong impression on what I was trying to achieve with this blog:

It is my personal opinion that every generation must interpret their ancient texts, lore and beliefs anew and that looking into different paths and studying both their differences as well as similarities is ultimately the key to knowing oneself and knowing “God”/the higher power.scarab-egypt
trishula_006However, I have great respect for the individual approaches and complex religions and pantheons which evolved within their cultural and historical context – often over thousands of years – and am hence against mindlessly and disrespectfully mixing traditions and cultures or ripping single practices and elements from the religions they were embedded in for a reason.
In other words, while certain traditions influenced each other or one derived from the other, eclecticism regarding these brother- and sister-traditions can make sense.
Like drawing from Celtic or related indo-Germanic practices if you follow the Germanic Pagan path, but also even filling in the blanks with spiritually universal practices not tied to any one religion. minotaur
Eclecticism gone wild, aka cherry-picking, is just another way of destroying the wonderful diversity of our native ways, cultures and people.

Be it Druidry, Germanic or Norse Paganism, Norse Wicca, Heathenry, Ásatrú, Vanatrú, Rökkatrú, Thursatrú, Urglaawe, Wicca, Gnosticism, Dievturiva, Romanova, Rodnovery, Suomenism, Taarism, Ósmagyar Vallás, Jewitchery, Dacism, Hellenism, Kemetism, Zoroastrianism, Hetanism/Tseghakron, Native American spirituality (Anishinabe, Peyotism etc), Shamanism, rooster-symbolVodun, Candomblé, Santéria, Taoism, Judaism, Jainism, Christianity in all its forms, Shintoism, Sihkhism, Jainism, Inuit or Minoan beliefs, Mayan religion and even pseudo-religions or rather politics under the banner of religion such as Islam, Odinism and so forth… this will be the place to find information on all of them.
While some of these religions are obviously not “Pagan”, despite the name, this is – as stated in the description – a blog dedicated to religious studies in general also. Considering the manifoldness of Pagan customs, traditions and origins of the non-Pagan religions (monotheistic religions) an exploration of them seems even more justified and due. unicursal-hexagram
Other than introductions to the Gods, practices and beliefs of different religions you will find on here some of my own personal magical and spiritual experiences, recipes, spells, oracles and how to read them and tutorials on how to create your own rituals or celebrate the Wheel of the Year.
